Ex-Aston Villa defender Mellberg slams Chelsea players for ref rant

Tussle: Mellberg realises that getting the better of Didier Drogba is a tall order Juventus defender Olof Mellberg accused Chelsea players of harrassing referee Antonio Rubinus Perez during the 2-2 draw in Turin which saw the Blues advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.   Perez initially ruled Didier Drogba's free-kick had not been taken over the line by keeper Gianluigi Buffon - a decision that infuriated Chelsea even though replays were inconclusive. The Spanish official went on to award Juventus a penalty when Juliano Beletti handled and the former Aston Villa defender Mellberg feels Chelsea's players crossed the line in their protests. He said 'They attacked the referee and the linesmen with five or six players. It looked really ugly. 'They continuously tried to affect the referee with half a dozen players so we tried to break them up.'
