Everton manager David Moyes backing Tim Cahill after tackle leads to Petr Cech injury

Everton manager David Moyes last night exonerated Tim Cahill fromblame after he had brought Petr Cech's worst nightmares to life atStamford Bridge yesterday.

Cech was left clutching his left eye in the 73rd minute after Cahillappeared to catch Chelsea's goalkeeper in the face as he arrived latewith what appeared to be a studs-first challenge.

Four years ago, Cech underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of his skull and he plays in a protective leather cap.

But Moyes said: 'Just because Cech has a medical history, that doesn't mean my player can't go for the ball. If he hadn't gone for it, I'd be wringing his neck.'
