Extra stride: Wayne Bridge can take advantage of Ashley Cole's injury and replace him at World Cup[LNB]Glenn Hoddle believes Manchester City will benefit from Wayne Bridge's unexpected England chance. Ashley Cole's ankle injury means Bridge is set to be Fabio Capello's first choice at left-back against Egypt next month and maybe even at the World Cup if the Chelsea defender does not recover in time for South Africa. It would mean Bridge playing alongside John Terry who had an alleged affair with his ex-Chelsea team-mate's partner. But former England manager Hoddle said: 'If there is any consolation for Capello it is that he has three months to see who is available. Had Cole's injury happened a week before the finals it would have been more difficult. 'I had Wayne with me when I was at Southampton and he's a smashing lad. He's come on leaps and bounds as a player.  'I think Roberto Mancini and Manchester City will benefit from this because I'm sure there will be an extra stride in Wayne's step now, knowing he could cement a place in the World Cup team.[LNB] Wrong footed: Ashley Cole could miss South Africa with an ankle injury at Everton[LNB]'Of course Cole will be missed, he's a marvellous player. He pushes on so much for Chelsea it's like watching Roberto Carlos at his best for Real Madrid. He really gives wingers and opponents problems because he pushes so far forward.  'Fingers crossed he makes it but Wayne can take advantage of the situation.'[LNB]  Ashley Cole injury crisis: England star out for season so Wayne Bridge will HAVE to play alongside John Terry John Terry and Wayne Bridge - team-mates driven apart by affair may be thrown together at the heart of England's bid for World Cup gloryMANCHESTER CITY FC
