John Terry's future as England captain will be determined by the players who are ready to stand against him for having a relationship with the estranged partner of international team-mate Wayne Bridge. [LNB]Terry could even miss the World Cup if Fabio Capello decides that his presence seriously destabilises the squad and jeopardises their chances of success in South Africa. [LNB] Leading the country: But John Terry's position as England captain has now been called into question[LNB]Capello is keen to wait and see what kind of impact the scandal has on his squad when they meet on March 1 for the friendly against Egypt at Wembley. [LNB]But an FA insider told Sportsmail last night that bad feeling among England's players towards Terry could see him dropped from the squad altogether. Capello recently spoke of how infighting had cost the Italy squad, of which he was a member, success in the 1974 World Cup. 'It is about his presence - and if his presence is a problem he will have to be dropped as a player. Not as skipper.'[LNB]England's manager does not want to lose Terry. He rightly regards him as one of the finest centre halves in the world and until now he has been very satisfied with his performance as captain.[LNB]But the Italian, who was conducting FA business at his home in Lugano yesterday while recovering from knee surgery, is understood to be deeply unhappy with Terry's behaviour, as well as other headlines his off-the-pitch activities have generated in recent months. [LNB] [LNB] And Capello is not afraid to take action. 'No one is untouchable,' he warned when he gave Terry the captain's job. [LNB]Bridgeis said to be deeply distressed by the actions of someone he hadconsidered a close friend, so much so that he is considering hisinternational future. [LNB]The Manchester City left back, whoplayed with Terry at Chelsea, is expected to secure a place in theWorld Cup squad as understudy to Ashley Cole and someone who wouldstand alongside Terry should Cole suffer an injury. [LNB]Other players also believe Terry has 'crossed the line' in starting a relationship with Vanessa Perroncel when she had only just split from Bridge and the couple have a young son together. [LNB]Sportsmail understands Terry has now lost the respect of senior members of the England dressing room and they consider his position 'untenable'. [LNB]Capello has never faced such a crisis in his two years as England manager but he is expected to return to London next week for discussions with senior FA officials.[LNB]Members of the FA's international committee are also deeply unimpressed by Terry, even if they will leave it to Capello to make a decision on his future. [LNB]In December, chief executive Ian Watmore responded to revelations about Terry in the News of the World by saying: 'I see our role as appointing the manager and his team. Having appointed Fabio and Co, it's their call on all matters to do with the playing side and the captaincy. It's as simple as that. It doesn't help anyone if we backseat drive from here.'[LNB]  John Terry cannot continue as England captain after his Bridge betrayalJohn Terry named as star in affair with Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa PerroncelRevealed: Married England captain John Terry had an affair with team-mate's partner... and then launched legal cover-upSurely the serial brawler, drinker and womaniser John Terry can't remain captain of his country?CHELSEA FC
