When Eden Hazard receives the ball, there is a brief silence as onlookers await what’s next.

In a fraction of a second, those watching at home move forwards to the edge of their sofas and those in the stadium clock who is on the ball before an eruption of a deafening, expectant noise.

Hazard, now definitively the Premier League’s player of the season, has managed to stay modest despite receiving the top individual honour on offer.

Just as relaxed and understated as you’d expect from Hazard – the man expected by manager Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane to only get better. An exciting prospect for anyone who enjoys football.

Harry Kane isn’t to be forgotten in this. The 30-goal forward was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year on Sunday evening after becoming an integral part of the Spurs set-up and scoring 79 seconds into his England debut.

Kane didn’t score in the league until November but has been in scintillating form since, drawing the spotlight on to his ability to take chances when they fall his way.

Asked to sum up his season in one word, Kane went for: “Unreal.”
