Drogba sits out Elephants training
Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba sat out of training as a precaution to rest his broken arm ahead of his side's World Cup curtain raiser. The Ivorians' campaign gets underway against Portugal on Tuesday and Drogba is struggling to be fit after sustaining the injury in a friendly against Japan. The Chelsea man underwent surgery in Berne to try correct the problem and manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is hopeful his star name will recover to help his team through a tough Group G, which also includes Brazil and North Korea. The Elephants trained in Johannesburg to continue their preparations for the clash in Port Elizabeth but Drogba remained at the team hotel to receive treatment. Eriksson is likely to wait until the last possible moment before making a decision on Drogba's involvement, giving the 32-year-old every chance of being fit for Tuesday's encounter.
