Drogba hails Blues start

Chelsea forward Didier Drogba has stressed the importance of making a good start when challenging for the Premier League title. The Blues have made an impressive opening with victory over Hull City on the opening day, in which he scored two goals, followed by a midweek triumph over Sunderland. Last term the club spent most of the season chasing leaders Manchester United and Liverpool, but with both those rivals dropping points already this term, Drogba is pleased to be in control so far. "It has been important to get off to a good start," he told the Sunday Mirror. "We learnt from last year that it's never good to be chasing anybody and already the other teams are chasing us and that is a nice position to be in. "We are not going to get excited after two games, but we've showed in the opening two games that we can win professionally - like we did against Hull - and classy, like we did against Sunderland." Positive There is a positive mood at Stamford Bridge at the moment as Carlo Ancelotti's reign has got off to a flying start and the Ivorian striker feels much of that is to do with the retaining of their best players. Manchester United lost star player Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool sold Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, while Arsenal lost Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure to Manchester City, transfers which Drogba feels work in their favour. He said: "Every one of the top four sides has lost has lost at least one of their big stars this summer - apart from Chelsea. "Manchester City came in for John Terry, but we all knew he would never go. He loves the club, and I think it was a very easy decision for him to stay. "There is a lot of belief here and the reason the players don't want to leave is because they believe we are on the verge of something special." Rivals Manchester United have won the Premier League three seasons on the trot after Chelsea's back to back titles in 2005 and 2006, but the 31-year-old is adamant the title will return to Stamford Bridge this season. He added: "The Premier League is very important for us and it's been three years now since we have won it. We believe we will bring it back here this year."
