Dire Blues shock Ancelotti
09 Dec 2009 - 08:30:30
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti was extremely disappointed with his side's lack-lustre display in Tuesday's Champions League encounter with APOEL Nicosia.
Although the Blues had already qualified for the last 16 of the competition, Ancelotti thought his team were sloppy in the 2-2 draw against the Cypriot side at Stamford Bridge with only teenager Gael Kakuta escaping the Italian's wrath.
"This was not a good evening," said the former AC Milan coach. "We did well in the first half after going behind in six minutes.
"We were playing well and scored two goals. We played with intensity but then lost our concentration. For this I am not happy.
"We have to play for 90 minutes with intensity and concentration. It's a psychological thing.
"This was not how we want it. I spoke with my players about it afterwards. The first goal can happen, the second one no. It was the consequence of our soft play.
"We had the possibility to close the game out but didn't play well.
"Kakuta is the only one who could think he played well. He showed his talent and made a fantastic pass for the second goal."
