Barcelona midfielder Deco has confirmed that he could join current Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea before the start of the new season.
The 30-year-old seems certain to be leaving the Camp Nou this summer, although it is believed the Blues are unwilling to pay big money for a player of Deco's comparatively advanced years.
However, the Portugal international told Marca: "There is interest from Chelsea, which is normal. But Scolari has not told me anything, we are now just talking to the club."
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, now at Internazionale, is also believed to be keen to sign Deco, who added: "Of course, there are other possibilities."
He also backed Scolari - who has been criticised for announcing his move to Stamford Bridge midway through Euro 2008, saying: "I believe Scolari was totally honest throughout all this process.
"He was at the end of his contract with Portugal, and people have to understand that he has to make the right decisions for his career.
"I was sad when he told us he was going because it means we are losing a man and a coach who was primarily responsible for the way we have recovered confidence as a squad and a team.
"He is the man responsible for the spirit and life we have inside this team and for the fantastic sense of unity we have. But above all I was happy for him and I am certain that he will have a lot of success at Chelsea."
