Quaresma was the only player to join the club in January after Luiz Felipe Scolari signed the winger on loan from Inter Milan for the rest of the season with a view to a possible permanent deal in the summer.[LNB]Quaresma was not seriously on Chelsea's radar until news arrived on the final day of trading that a proposed deal to take the Portuguese to White Hat Lane had stalled.[LNB]The former Porto player has failed to impress since he joined Inter last summer despite the presence of another of his countrymen, Jose Mourinho, in the San Siro dugout, culminating in Mourinho omitting him from the club's Champions League squad this week.[LNB]Despite his unhappy time in Italy, Quaresma is still highly rated and is seen by Scolari as the man to bring width to his stuttering side, especially after Joe Cole was ruled out from the remainder of the season.[LNB]Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool at the weekend leaves them in danger of dropping out of the title race altogether, sitting five points behind leaders Manchester United, who also have a game in hand.[LNB]Deco, however, believes Quaresma's arrival is just the tonic needed to reconcentrate Chelsea minds for the remainder of the season.[LNB]'Quaresma is young, but has improved a great deal in recent times and he can be a very good reinforcement for Chelsea with many decisive moments in the season coming up,' said Deco.[LNB]'The Premier League may suit Quaresma more than in Italy. I believe he can have more success here.[LNB]'I am surprised it did not work out for him at Inter, especially as it was Jose Mourinho who wanted to sign him last summer.[LNB]'He is a player with fight, determination, swiftness and great vision on the field. He can make things happen and unlock opposition defences.[LNB]'On the ball he is a fantastic talent and can dribble at pace. He is a great player to watch and he will excite the fans.[LNB]'The defeat at Anfield was a major setback. But the team need to react well now. It's still possible for us to fight in many competitions, but that will depend on us.[LNB]'I am an ambitious player and I want to win a Premier League title in my first year at Chelsea.'[LNB]Cigano finds new home... [LNB]A part-Romany heritage has earned Ricardo Quaresma, 25, the nickname 'Cigano' – Portuguese for gypsy. [LNB]He graduated from Sporting Lisbon's academy and after helping win a league and cup double, joined Barcelona in 2003. Fell out with coach Frank Rijkaard, and joined Porto in 2004, where his style was compared to Cristiano Ronaldo. Signed for Inter Milan in Sept 2008 but confidence evaporated when he lost support of the fans.
