Decision time as Chelsea weighup Sergio Aguero move

18 August 2009 10:01
Ancelotti looks set to add one more player to his squad before the transfer window closes on Aug 31 and the the Athletico Madrid striker looks the most likely candidate. Aguero will face Panathinaikos in Wednesday's Champions League qualifier unless Chelsea increase their £42m bid, according to the Sun. If Aguero plays, the Argentine will be cup-tied for Chelsea's own European campaign this season. Atletico are likely to turn down the offer, which would smash the current British transfer record of £32 million paid by Manchester City for Robinho last summer, and hold out for the full £50m buy-out clause in Aguero's contract. Ancelotti has not ruled out the possibility of bringing one more new face to Stamford Bridge. "The market finishes on August 31 and if there is some possibility to improve the squad we can do it," he said.
