David Luiz set to leave Chelsea?

Chelsea defender David Luiz could be the latest Stamford Bridge star to be canned by new boss Jose Mourinho.

The £25million defender is a top target for French champions PSG, who want to pair him up with his fellow countryman, Thiago Silva, in the heart of their defence.

The news comes as a bit of a shock. Mourinho, apparently, doesn’t see Luiz as a midfielder and is equally unimpressed by the 26-year-old’s defensive abilities.

The Sideshow Bob lookalike is seen as a sellable asset in The Special One’s eyes, with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala a preferred option.

However, it’s rumoured that the Chelsea hierarchy see Luiz as a future captain, and would prefer to keep him.

It’s difficult to have an opinion on David Luiz. Sometimes he can really boss the game and dictate the speed of play to his liking. Other times, he looks a bit uncomfortable, a bit sloppy when on the ball, and miles away, position-wise, when off it.

I don’t see him as a sellable asset. With the right coaching, which is surely what he’ll get with Mourinho, I can see him becoming a world-class defender.
