Coventry swoop for Van Aanholt

Coventry City have signed Chelsea teenager Patrick van Aanholt on loan until 31st December. Van Aanholt has yet to make his first-team debut for Chelsea since joining the club from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in 2007. He has been a regular for the Blues' reserves and will now get the chance to build up his experience in the Championship with Coventry. The 18-year-old could be involved in Coventry's opening game of the season against Ipswich Town on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 2 & HD2. Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman had been looking to bring in extra cover at left-back due to concerns over Marcus Hall's fitness. Peter Gilbert played for Coventry in last weekend's friendly against Everton, but the former Sheffield Wednesday defender has since signed for Oldham Athletic.
