Could Balotelli be on his way to Chelsea?

The Daily Mail reports Balotelli could be a target for Chelsea in January. Less than a year after the controversial striker left Manchester City Mario Balotelli is now linked with a move to Chelsea according to his agent Mino Raiola.

Balotelli, now with AC Milan, left Manchester City in January for a reported £19 million but has seen a recent dip in form land him a place on the bench. Balotelli’s commitment has been questionable at both Manchester City and AC Milan with a number of incidents off the field landing the striker in hot water. Balotelli has recently returned from a three-match ban for insulting a referee and his future now looks uncertain.

Despite the strikers temperment and high maintenance he is still classed as one of the hotest young strikers in Europe and has shown glipses of his ability but not on a regular basis.

Balotelli has previously worked under Mourinho at Inter Milan who dropped Balotelli from the first team due to his attitude. Mourinho stated at the time that Balotelli “has incredible qualities, but sometimes does not know how to use his brain.”

Despite comments by Mourinho while the two were together at Inter Milan they are believed to have a good relationship and Mourinho could be the manager to tame Balotelli and get the best out of him. Balotelli’s agent has stated that “the two have remained in contact and there is mutual respect.”

The news will attract mixed feelings amongst the Chelsea fans who are dissapointed at the decision to allow Lukaku to leave on loan to Everton giving his fantasic form and would be worried about the bad publicity and off the field antics Balotelli would bring.
