Collins wants to avoid last day drama
Sunderland defender Danny Collins has warned his team-mates they cannot allow their hopes of Barclays Premier League survival to rest on a final day clash with Chelsea.
The Black Cats turned in another woeful display on the back of their 3-0 humiliation at West Brom as Everton condemned them to a ninth league defeat of the campaign at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
Collins said: "You are always hoping the teams around you will lose, and that's what happened this weekend."
He added: "West Brom and Boro lost on Saturday and we knew Newcastle's score when we started our game yesterday.
"We knew a win against Everton would just about keep us safe, but it was another flat performance and now it's looks like we're going to have to do it at Bolton and Pompey.
"We really don't want it to go into the last game against Chelsea because everyone knows how tough that will be."
Chairman Niall Quinn has big plans for the club this summer with American investor Ellis Short ready to buy out the Drumaville consortium which took over almost three years ago.
However, that will depend largely upon where the club is playing its football next season.
Sbragia, who replaced Roy Keane at the helm in December, has since seen a succession of better-known names, most recently Steve McClaren and Louis van Gaal, linked with his job.
