Cole suffers injury setback

Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has admitted to being devastated after suffering a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

The 24-year-old made his first appearance of the season as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's Champions League win against Werder Bremen but suffered a reaction to the injury.

He has been ruled out of Sunday's mouth-watering Premiership clash with Liverpool and is also likely to miss next week's game at Fulham.

"I'm devastated that the injury has flared up again," said the former West Ham United star.

"I've been pulling my hair out trying to ensure I get fully fit again and staying at the training ground until 5pm every day.

"Unfortunately the injury is not healing as I'd like and I need to get 100 per cent right.

"I need to take a few steps back for that to happen and it's unlikely I'll be ready for the Liverpool game, which is a big blow for me.

"I'm desperate to play and the Liverpool game is a big one to miss out on, but I know I need to get this right."
