Cole insists Chelsea being picked on as they count the cost of Anfield defeat

Ashley Cole has complained that Chelsea's players are being unfairly picked on by officials as manager Luiz Felipe Scolari continued to count the cost of their 2-0 defeat at Liverpool. [LNB]Frank Lampard was sent off, John Terry picked up a fifth booking of the season and Jose Bosingwa could be charged with violent conduct after referee Mike Riley missed the full-back's 'kung fu' kick in the back of Yossi Benayoun in the dying moments of the match. [LNB] On the receiving end: Ashley Cole takes evasive action as he is challenged by Fabio Aurelio at Anfield[LNB]Chelsea have appealed Lampard's dismissal for a lunge at Xabi Alonso but he will be suspended for the next three games - including the FA Cup tie with Watford on 14 February - unless Riley changes his mind over the controversial decision. [LNB]Terry has also been ruled out of the game at Vicarage Road after he was shown a yellow card for dissent and Bosingwa can expect a ban after Scolari confirmed the Portugal international should have been punished for his reckless challenge on Benayoun. [LNB]Rory Delap was sent off after clashing with Shaun Wright-Phillips, but the winger escaped censure after he kicked out at the Stoke player while on the ground. [LNB]Cole said: "All the players watched what happened with Shaun Wright-Phillips (at Stoke) and no one gets booked or questioned about it. We do one little tackle and we seem to be getting yellow and red cards. It's down to the referee, it's his decision and we have to stand by it." [LNB]Lucky boy: Bosingwa somehow escaped punishment for his kung-fu kick at Benayoun[LNB] Replays suggested the decision to send off Lampard was extremely harsh, as the midfielder took the ball before being caught on his ankle by Alonso. [LNB]There is history between Lampard and Alonso, after a challenge from the Chelsea player on New Year's Day 2005 left the Spaniard with a broken ankle that sidelined him for three months. [LNB]Scolari said: "I want the referee to look at the replay, and maybe then he will change the red card for Frank Lampard. If you see the replay, you can see that maybe it is a foul by Alonso. I do not understand why Frank was sent off. [LNB]"I ask only for the FA and the referee to look at the video. If they agree that Frank did not commit a foul, maybe he will be able to play for us in the next game." [LNB]But Bosingwa was extremely lucky after digging his studs into Benayoun's back as the Liverpool substitute tried to kill time by the corner flag. [LNB]Scolari added: "As for Jose Bosingwa he did not make the correct decision. Even if the referee had stopped the game, it was not the time to do something wrong. [LNB]"He made a mistake, and maybe he will have a punishment from the FA. But if they decide to punish Bosingwa, perhaps they can also change Frank Lampard's red card." [LNB]Chelsea were toothless in attack at Anfield, especially after Lampard was dismissed, and Scolari admitted: "I think Liverpool were better than us for all of the game, but Lampard's sending-off also changed things." [LNB]Regarding the bigger picture, Scolari conceded: "We need to look again at our situation and try again," before adding that the result at Anfield made Chelsea's title chances "more distant".[LNB] Chelsea appeal to FA in bid to have Lampard red overturned[LNB]You just cost us the title: Chelsea boss Scolari's fury at Lampard red card[LNB]Graham Poll: Riley in the wrong - Lampard red card must be rescinded and Bosingwa should be charged[LNB]Liverpool 2 Chelsea 0: Torres at the double to put Merseysiders two points behind leaders as Lampard sees red[LNB]CHELSEA FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB] [LNB] [LNB]
