Cole eyes five FA Cup wins

Ashley Cole admits that becoming the first player for more than 100 years to win five FA Cups would be a major achievement in his career. The 28-year-old has lifted the famous trophy four times to date, with three of those triumphs coming during his time at Arsenal, but the England international is determined to join an elite band of players when he lines up against Everton on 30th May. The last player to win a quintuple of FA Cups was Jimmy Forrest of Blackburn in 1891 while the only other players to achieve the feat are Charles Wollaston in 1878 and Arthur Kinnaird in 1882. As well as being able to write his name in the record books Cole is just looking to beat the Toffees to ensure that the Blues end the season on a positive note. "Winning the FA Cup for the fifth time would be a big achievement in my life," he told The Sun. However the left-back believes that even if the Blues were to win the final it would not necessarily mean that the season as a whole could be deemed a success. "I wouldn't say winning the FA Cup would make it a terrific season because we're all still disappointed that we're out of the Champions League," he added. "But hopefully the Cup final will be a decent end to the season. A club like Chelsea has to win silverware." End on a high Cole also pointed out that the players want to win the trophy so that temporary manager Guus Hiddink can leave the club on a high. "Everyone wants Guus to stay but I doubt it will happen," he explained. "But in the few months he's been our manager everyone has shown a lot of desire and fight for him because we all enjoy playing for him so much." Cole has seen his form improve with every passing game this season and he puts it down to the fact that he knows his place is now assured after the departure to Manchester City of fellow full-back Wayne Bridge. "It was a difficult time for me when Wayne Bridge was here because I was playing with a bad ankle," he highlighted. "Maybe I shouldn't have been playing. I always wanted to be in the team every week to show I could do better. "But now it's a little less demanding mentally because I do feel I'm going to be playing every week and maybe that's better for my mind. "Now the pressure is more on me to stay fit because we don't have many other left-backs."
