Cobblers end Magnay loan

Carl Magnay's loan spell at Northampton Town has been cut short after the defender was ruled out for the rest of the season. The youngster joined the Cobblers on a month's loan from Chelsea earlier in March and made his debut in the recent 1-0 defeat at Millwall. He was then replaced at half-time against Peterborough and has now returned to Chelsea for treatment on a stress fracture in his back. With Chris Doig also injured, Northampton boss Stuart Gray admits he may need to go back into the loan market for reinforcements. "A scan has shown that Carl Magnay has got a stress fracture in his back so he has gone back to Chelsea and won't play again this season," Gray told the club's official website. "I signed two strikers on loan last week, but having now lost Chris and Carl, I might have to look at bringing in a defender before the loan deadline."
