Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke paid tribute to Frank Lampard after the midfielder's 20th goal of the season secured a crucial 1-0 victory at Manchester City.
Lampard's penalty sealed a narrow victory at Eastlands and moved the Blues back to within six points of Manchester United at the top of the Premiership.
Afterwards, Clarke commented: "Frank's goalscoring contribution is immense.
"To score 20 goals at this stage of the season for a midfielder is a marvellous achievement. We are all aware what a vital member of the squad he is.
"Manchester City made it very difficult for us. They are fighting for their lives in the division and we knew it would be a tough game.
"They huffed and puffed but I do not think they had a shot on target.
"We have always felt the gap between us and Manchester United is manageable. Six points is not a big distance.
"One defeat for them and the gap is three points and the pressure is really on. We are going to chase them all the way.
"We will not make the first mistake in the title run-in and hopefully they will make it sooner rather than later. We know what we have to do."
