Clarke hails midfield duo

Chelsea assistant Steve Clarke believes the performance of Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack in the Carling Cup victory over Aston Villa will silence those who claimed the midfield duo can't play together.
The England midfielder opened the scoring in the 4-0 rout at Stamford Bridge and Ballack caught the eye with a glittering midfield display.
"The debate about Ballack and Lampard was at other places, it wasn't here," claimed Clarke.
"We had no doubts that they could play together. What they are doing now is no surprise to us.
"They are top-quality players. Good players can always play with each other."
