City looking at third Terry bid

Mark Hughes has confirmed Manchester City could make a third bid for John Terry. Hughes and chief executive Garry Cook are monitoring the situation at Stamford Bridge and are expecting clarification about Terry's position later this week. "We made an offer and Chelsea made their view plain, we have to respect that," said Hughes. "But in the future we may revisit it." For now, Hughes will concentrate on the first stages of preparations for the new season when City head out to South Africa for a three-match tour. Despite initial optimism, Emmanuel Adebayor will not be on the trip as talks continue over a £25million move from Arsenal. The Togo forward has a work permit hearing planned for Wednesday, which would provide clearance for him to make the move although, despite furious speculation to the contrary on Tuesday, he has yet to have a medical. Hughes is convinced new signing Carlos Tevez will be eventually viewed as a bargain buy such is the ability he brings to the squad. "We had a figure on Carlos, and what we have paid is significantly under that figure," he said. "We are delighted because we know that to compete at the top level we need players like Carlos to be at this club. Now he is here I am sure he will help with that process. "His work ethic and desire to have an impact on games is clear every time he goes onto the football field."
