Chelsea's Paul Pogba move could actually happen with Ramires going the other way

Speculation about the future of French starlet Paul Pogba has been rife since before the transfer window was opened with Barcelona, Manchester City and even Bayern Munich being linked with. Although understandably, Juventus have been keen on keeping the player.

Reports have now emerged that the Italian club are entertaining the prospect of a deal in excess of £70 million for their star man, if they can bring in worthwhile replacement. Chelsea have now been proclaimed favourites to seal the deal as Russian owner Roman Abramovich apparently authorised a mega money second bid and a salary in the region of £300,000 in an attempt to lure the midfield ace to the Bridge. Jose Mourinho has also reportedly offered Brazilian midfielder Ramires as a makeweight. Juan Cuadrado’s move to Turin could also help relations between the two clubs in negotiating a deal before deadline day.

Chelsea’s late charge for Pogba has been attributed to the poor early season form of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic and the Chelsea defence as a whole. Better protection is needed for the backline and with Everton having rejected John Stones’ transfer, Chelsea’s need for a commanding midfielder has never been stronger.

We can only wait to see if the deal will go over the line in time and if it does it would certainly be a major boost for the Blues, maybe just what they need to try and catch up to Manchester City.
