Chelsea v Stoke: Preview - Can Mark Hughes' side make history?

Chelsea host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge tomorrow with The Blues hoping to extend their unbeaten home record to 77 games under Jose Mourinho.

Their record at home may be making all the headlines, but the title-chasers have been in somewhat of a slump as of late. A loss to Crystal Palace last weekend was followed by a mid-week defeat to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.

The Potters fortunes have been a little more positive with Mark Hughes' side amassing the 40 points traditionally need to retain Premier League status last weekend against Hull as they walked out 1-0 winners. Hughes now wants to make history by being the only side to have ever beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge under Mourinho's reign and stretch Stoke's undefeated streak to six matches.

Team News

The hosts have just two injuries of concern with both Ashley Cole and Marc Van Ginkel but could have Samuel Eto'o ready to make his return.

Stoke on the other hand have no new injury concerns with just Robert Huth and on-loan Liverpool Winger Oussama Assaidi the only ones on the treatment list.

Stats

Chelsea have not lost any league games at home during Mourinho’s spells as manager, winning 60 and drawing 16.

The Blues have dropped just eight points from the last 75 available at home in the league.

Mourinho’s side have allowed just 99 shots against them this season, the fewest in the league.

Stoke City defeated Chelsea 3-2 in the first game between the two earlier this season, the first time in 11 Premier League meetings with the London side.

Prediction

Given that Chelsea have never been defeated at home under Jose, you have to feel Stoke have a mountain to climb, but given the way Stoke played in their last away gave against Aston Villa (Who themselves beat Chelsea a few weeks ago) I wouldn't count Stoke out to quickly.

Chelsea 1-2 Stoke
