Chelsea striker Didier Drogba withdraws from Ivory Coast squad

The Chelsea striker stayed behind in London for treatment after he was kicked in the chest by Manchester United defender Johnny Evans in Sunday's Premier League match at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea had received a boost on Tuesday when Drogba was given the all-clear on the rib injury he suffered in their 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge. A scan revealed bruising around his chest rather than a broken rib. Chelsea are also hopeful that Ashley Cole, who pulled out of the England squad to face Brazil on Saturday, will recover in time from a fractured tibiato to face Arsenal on Nov 29.
