Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko fears another Carlo Ancelotti snub
Published : 03 Jun 2009 08:42:42
Shevchenko joined Chelsea from the Italian club in a £30 million deal but failed to live up to an exceptional reputation earned during his first spell in Serie A. A loan move back to Milan was engineered by owner Silvio Berlusconi, a personal friend, rather than the manager, though the Ukrainian was unable to reproduce the form that had made him beloved of the supporters. Now Chelsea have requested he return to the club that owns him with Shevchenko devastated to learn he will be playing under the same manager who has already disregarded him, according to a report in the Daily Star newspaper. 'He's due back at Chelsea,' said a spokesman for Shevchenko. 'He has been told they want to see what happens up until Christmas. 'He's not optimistic, considering the amount of playing time he was given at Milan.' Meanwhile, rumours have circulated in the Italian media questioning the timing of Ancelotti's first interview since joining Chelsea, with the club's in-house TV station. Some reports have claimed the interview, released on Monday, may have been filmed well in advance, with no reference to the club's FA Cup final win included.
