Chelsea's Deco a target for Jose Mourinho and Inter Milan
Published : 24 Apr 2009 10:39:24
The Portuguese international, who was Luiz Felipe Scolari's first signing as Chelsea manager at the beginning of this season, has failed to regain the form he showed during his first few months at Stamford Bridge since returning from injury. As a result of Scolari leaving and a series of poor performances, the 31-year-old has struggled to secure himself a place in Guus Hiddink's starting XI resulting in him being linked with a move away. The paper also suggests that the club will go ahead with their approach regardless of whether Mourinho is still in charge next season or not. Speculation over the Portuguese manager's future in Milan has been rife since the defending Serie A champions crashed out of this year's Champions League in the knock-out stages against Manchester United. Inter faced further embarrassment this week after being knocked out of the Italian Cup by Sampdoria in the semi-final stages. It marks the first time in five seasons that the Italian giants have not featured in the final. On the upside for Mourinho's side is they look certain to clinch the Italian title. They have a 10 point lead with just six matches to play.
