Israel international Yossi Benayoun appears to be on the verge of sealing his transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea.
Reports suggest the 30-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with last season's double winners, although the clubs have not yet agreed a transfer fee.
Liverpool are believed to have rejected a £4million bid for the former West Ham United star who Chelsea feel will be the perfect replacement for Joe Cole, who has been told he is free to leave Stamford Bridge.
Benayoun moved from West Ham to Anfield for £5million in 2007 and has gone on to find the net 29 times in 81 starts and 53 substitute appearances for the Reds, where he still has three years left on his current contract.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has quoted a close associate of the midfielder as saying: "During his entire career Yossi Benayoun has known how to make decisions with his head and not his gut.
"Yossi has a special sense for knowing what's good for him and when. Like his move to Liverpool, this time as well, Yossi's calculations are professional rather than financial.
"When Yossi signed with Liverpool, many raised their eyebrows and didn't believe he would make the team's roster."
