Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko ready to listen to Roma offer
Andriy Shevchenko has invited Roma to make Chelsea an offer. Headache: Andriy Shevchenko says he's happy to stay at Chelsea The Ukraine striker says he is happy to see out the remaining year on his Stamford Bridge contract and will report for pre-season training on July 9. But he admits being open to offers and speaks warmly of Roma coach Luciano Spalletti and his friendship with the club's iconic striker Francesco Totti. Shevchenko is not thought to be in Chelsea's plans and the club had considered paying up the last year of his contract. But they are aware of interest from Roma, whose financial worries could be eased by a buy out this week, and are waiting to see if the Italians make a move . Shevchenko told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport: 'On July 9 I will join Chelsea in pre-season training. Then we will see what happens.' The return to London sees him once again under Carlo Ancelotti, who, as AC Milan coach, largely decided not to use Shevchenko last season when the striker was on loan at the San Siro. But the 32-year-old said: 'I have spoken to the coach who has given me an appointment for pre-season training. 'I have one year left on my contract with Chelsea and I intend to respect it and honour it in the best possible way.' 'If there was a concrete offer then I would evaluate it together with Chelsea. If it will not be possible to continue my career at Chelsea then I will look at other options. 'I consider Spalletti a great coach, serious and prepared. He is able to bring out the best of his players. When I met him there was a good feeling between us. 'Francesco Totti is also a friend of mine. He is the symbol of a very important team.' New Dynamo Kiev boss Valery Gazzaev would like to take Shevchenko back to the club, but they are unlikely to be able to meet his wage demands.
