Chelsea are reported to have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City's Daniel Sturridge, with a fee to be decided by a tribunal.
The 19-year-old forward has rejected the offer of a new contract from the Citizens, but will command a considerable fee as he is under 24 and not available on a Bosman free transfer.
City are rumoured to value Sturridge at around £10million, while the Blues are hoping to pay around £3million for the versatile teenager.
Meanwhile, the agent of Chelsea's midfield powerhouse, Michael Essien, has hinted that his client may consider a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Fabian Piveteau stated: "Some clubs are interested in Michael.
"He likes Chelsea very much, but football is football and if Real Madrid, Barcelona or some other club make an offer, he needs to sit down and discuss what is best for him."
