Chelsea won't discuss new deal for Didier Drogba until next summer

Chelsea are planning to wait until the summer before opening talks with Didier Drogba over a new contract even though he only has 18 months left on his existing deal.

Drogbahas struggled for consistency and fitness this season, but showed glimpses of his best in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham earlier this month, even though he missed a last-gasp penalty.

France Under 20 forward Gael Kakuta is close to agreeing a new contract to stay at Stamford Bridge - ending speculation over his future.
