Chelsea Vs. Everton: Should we expect fireworks?

10 February 2015 09:58

The reverse fixture was certainly a classic as the two teams exchanged blows with seemingly complete disregard for defensive solidity. It was then the new Chelsea spurred on by the midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas and volatile Diego Costa against a spirited Everton side with the Goodison crowd roaring in their favour. From then, Chelsea went from strength to strength whilst Everton have been sadly stumbling along.

Chelsea go into this match without suspended Diego Costa whilst Cesc Fabregas is set to return from injury. The Blues seem to have regained some form after the 5-3 humbling at White Hart Lane. Everton also aren't in the form but the absence of Leighton Baines could prove telling as aside from his defensive input he is a good option going forward. Romelu Lukaku makes a return to the Bridge with a point to prove especially as his form has been largely indifferent this season.

One does hope the pressure of the title race and magic of the Premier League will ensure an open attacking game much like the 6-3 at Goodison Park. However, if Jose Mourinho and Roberto Martinez are to have their way this will probably be a low scoring tactical battle.
