Chelsea to make bid for Kwadwo Asamoah in January swoop: Transfer analysis

This may seem one of the more realistic reports doing the rounds today with the versatile midfielder being linked with an imminent exit to Stamford Bridge in January for £24million.

Chelsea have, barring a couple of hiccups, dominated the first half of the Premier League season and have not been making many noises about any requirements or shortfalls that need addressing in January. A report in Ghana Soccer Net does claim that Chelsea are keeping tabs on Kwadwo Asamoah with a view to bring the player to Stamford Bridge in January.

The player has been out of action for months with a knee injury which seems to have led to the idea that he was now surplus to requirements at Juventus. It will take a while for him to return to match fitness and he is also listed for Juventus in the Champions League so it would seem unlikely that the player would move in January. If Mourinho did want to proceed with a transfer it would seem a risky move to transfer a player returning from a lengthy injury spell.

The report in the Metro is rather sparing with details and overall seems less than 50/50 to me and if they were interested in the Ghana International it would seem sensible to wait until the summer in this case whilst monitoring his return to fitness.

The 26-year-old from Accra joined Juventus from Udinese in 2012 where he has made 92 appearances but only 9 so far this season. The midfielder is a regular for Ghana where he has 66 caps.
