Chelsea chief Roman Abramovich has given the go-ahead to launch a stunning 46million pound January bid for Atletico Madrid front man Radamel Falcao.
Radamel Falcao is currently one of, if not the best centre forward in the world right now. The Columbian scored 36 goals last campaign – as well scoring 8 already this season. His performances have not gone unnoticed the elite clubs around Europe.
In fact, the club most interested in Falcao is Chelsea.
Chelsea know Falcao very well – the Columbian scored a hatrick against The Blues in the European Super Cup in August as Atletico Madrid dominated the tie. The Spaniard winning 4-1.
That night was when billionaire, Abramovich, decided to make Falcao his number one transfer target for his Chelsea side – at whatever cost.
The Spanish club will find it hard to resist a big-money offer in January as they have debts to pay.
Atletico genereal manager Gil Marin said: “€60 million for Falcao would solve all the economic problems at Atletico.”
A move to Chelsea will see Falcao link up with a former Atletico Madrid striker in Fernando Torres. The £50million striker will wonder how his place in the team will fare upon the arrival of Falcao.
But if Roberto Di Matteo can somehow inter-link the talent at his disposal with the likes of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Oscar, Marin, Torres and Falcao – you can believe that Chelseas next UEFA Champions League Trophy will be nothing like the first.
