With the departure of Didier Drogba, Chelsea are in need of a third striker with Atletico's Antoine Griezmann being seen as the best replacement. The French star had an amazing season in La Liga even scoring more goals than the Premier League's top scorer Sergio Aguero.

Reports in the past week's implied that Griezmann was keen on a Chelsea move with the only hindrance being his release clause which Atletico were determined to hold out for. Jose Mourinho was even said to have gone to Spain on one occasion to watch Antoine.

All those reports seem to have been misplaced as the Special One rubbished any Chelsea links to the Atletico maestro. He was quoted as saying, "Griezmann is a great striker but is not within our objectives to strengthen for next season. We are not interested."- Evening Standard. Almost on cue, Antoine confirmed he is not leaving by asserting that he is not a one season man and is keen on trying to win with Atletico Madrid.

As if to complete the sequence, top Spanish paper Marca claims that Manchester United flop is close to announcing his move to Chelsea pending an agreement on a lower salary. Falcao has been linked with Chelsea before but was criticized by Mourinho for his poor movement. Chelsea would probably be interested now because of the Colombian's depletion in value and he is no doubt keen to prove to English fans that he is better than what he showed last season. Whether he will actually sign to be a third choice striker remains to be seen. Is he that desperate?
