Chelsea set to miss out on Porto target

Chelsea may have to drop their interest in Alvaro Pereira as Porto's president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa wants big money for him. The Blues have already had a £15m bid knocked back for him and Pinto da Costa has now told all potential suitors that only an offer which matches a release clause in contract will result in Pereira moving on.Former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas is thought to be desperate to be reunited with the player, who can play either at left-back or on the left-hand side of midfield, but that is easier said than done.Chelsea would therefore have to almost double the amount that they offered previously to stand any chance of taking him to Stamford Bridge before the close of the transfer window."Chelsea made us an offer for Pereira, but it took just 30 seconds to turn it down," said Pinto da Costa."Every player who has an escape clause in his contract can leave if somebody makes us an offer that matches that fee."But for Pereira, that escape clause is ?30million."
