Chelsea set to make improved offer of £27 million for Tottenham's Luka Modric

[LNB]Chelsea are understood to have already had a £22 million bid rejected but according to the Evening Standard, are ready to up their offer to £27 million. [LNB]Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp described Chelsea's initial bid as a joke, insisting he wanted to hold on to the 25-year-old but that any decision was effectively out of his hands.[LNB]"If they're [Chelsea] going to make an improved offer I would think they need to; £22m for Modric is a joke. He is a fantastic footballer and we need to keep him.[LNB]"At the end of the day it's up to the chairman, he makes those decisions. I certainly wouldn't want to lose him but it's not easy when people come along and offer you double or triple your wages.
