Chelsea seal America win

Chelsea finished the World Football Challenge with a 100 per cent record thanks to a 2-0 victory over Club America in Dallas. The Blues followed up successes over Inter Milan and AC Milan with a confident performance against the Mexicans. They secured the win with two goals in the second half from Franco Di Santo and Florent Malouda. Carlo Ancelotti's side had plenty of chances to take the lead in the first half but luck was not on their side. Alex pushed a free-kick just wide of the right post after 28 minutes. Five minutes later, Salomon Kalou had a header tipped onto the left post by Club America keeper Armando Navarette before the danger was eventually cleared. Ricardo Carvalho was also denied by the woodwork moments later, with his header rebounding off the right post. And Chelsea should have been ahead just before the interval but were unable to capitalise on a scramble in the Club America box after Navarette had parried another attempt on goal from Alex. The second half was just as frustrating for Chelsea, and their Mexican opponents hit the post themselves after 62 minutes. But a goal eventually arrived in the 75th minute with Malouda producing a lovely chipped ball into the box which Di Santo poked home from five yards. And they made certain of the win two minutes later when Di Santo turned provider for Malouda, racing into the box and pulling the ball back for the Frenchman to sweep home.
