Chelsea preparing to sell Schurrle to fund summer Marco Reus deal

Chelsea have made Borussia Dortmund and Germany ace Marco Reus their top summer transfer target, but their new Financial Fair Play friendly approach to player transfers means they'll have to offload Andre Schurrle to fund the deal.

Marco Reus' release clause becomes active at the end of this season, meaning he'll be available for less than £20million with Europe’s elite queueing up to acquire the players services.

Jose Mourinho is thought to rate the versatile attacking talent highly and is looking into ways to bring the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge. One option being explored involves sending Schurrle back to the Bundesliga to free up funds for a bid for Reus.

According to the Telegraph, Wolfsburg have shown interest in Schurrle and may be willing to splash out up to £23million for the player who appears not to be a prominent part of Mourinho's plan for Chelsea going forward.

The West London club will face stiff competition for Reus' signature with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also looking closely at the player. Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with Reus in recent months.
