With Jose Mourinho looking to find a strong replacement for club legend Didier Drogba it seems that the Bosnian Edin Dzeko has been identified an ideal replacement.

The report in the Mirror reveals that Chelsea are planning a raid on rivals Man City for the striker with City understood to be amenable to offers for their 29-year-old forward with Juventus, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg quoted £15million.

The player however has had no bids lodged at their valuation and Chelsea feel they can shave £5million off the asking price which may still be acceptable. City however, are unlikely to want to sell their player to a title rival and would prefer to drop their valuation to see if any foreign interest can be drummed-up. Dzeko was recruited to the Etihad in 2011 from Wolfsburg, costing some £27million and has gone on to score some 71 goals in all competitions with 50 of those coming in the league. Dzeko has a knack for scoring crucial goals with Mourinho clearly viewing the player as a potential bargain.

Dzeko won the Bundesliga title with Wolfsburg in 2008-09, two Premier League titles with City as well as an FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield. He was named Bundesliga Player's Player of the year in 2008-09 and top goalscorer in 09-10. The striker is the all-time top goalscorer for Bosnia & Herzegovina.
