Chelsea are planning a £30million summer raid for Newcastle pair Tim Krul and Cheick Tiote.

The Newcastle stars have been targeted by the clubs scouting team and former manager Andre Villas-Boas, before he was dismissed earlier this month.

Ivorian defensive midfielder, Tiote, was signed from Twente in 2010 and only recently signed a new deal at the club 6 months ago.

He earns around £67,000 per week and Chelsea would be willing to offer an improvement on his deal as well as paying a fee of £20m for his signature.

Krul, the 23-year-old Dutch international goalkeeper has enjoyed an excellent season in-between the posts for the Magpies, since being selected as first choice by Alan Pardew.

Chelsea would need to stump up around £10m for the in-demand keeper, Krul was recently handed a five-year contract.

Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias admitted that they would struggle to hold on to Tiote if clubs came forward with a strong offer for him.

The midfielder cost £3.5m and any sale would be for a major profit, with Dutch midfielder Adam Maher being viewed as a possible replacement.
