Chelsea only seeking 'marquee' signing says chairman Bruce Buck

Chelsea are said to be making a concerted effort to sign Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, while Pato, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez have all been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge. However, big-spending Real Madrid are the favourites to land Ribery, while Carlos Tevez is set to join Manchester City. AC Milan have slapped a £40m price tag on Brazilian Pato and Sergio Aguero will cost even more to prize away from Atletico Madrid, meaning Chelsea have been left frustrated in their efforts to land that marquee attacking player owner Roman Abramovich craves. Buck said: "We are looking for a marquee name. Most of the big clubs are chasing the same players. "We are only going to get one of those top-notch players, and there aren't very many of them. But we are looking and we are optimistic." Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the club have received a substantial bid for Ribery, and that it has not come from Real. Rummenigge said: "One club has made an offer and it is not called Real Madrid. We are not aiming to force up the price. We want to keep him."
