With just a week remaining until the transfer window closes it seems that the rumour mill is starting to step up a gear in anticipation of what could be one of the more interesting January windows for some time.

One player that has been skirting round the fringes of the transfer rumour press is Raheem Sterling who has yet to be tied down to a long-term improved deal at Liverpool. The player it seems wants to stay at Liverpool but the interest in him from other clubs may well make the player think about the money situation and what an improved deal could look like at other clubs and what it might look like at Liverpool.

Reports in the Express state that the 20-year-old has rejected a £70,000/week deal and that the player is essentially holding out for closer to £100,000/week.

Rodgers looked to calm fears that Liverpool may lose their young player to Real Madrid or Chelsea by stating:

"It is something the club are speaking with his representatives on and I would think that would be concluded very imminently.

"The player is very happy. It (the delay) is nothing to do with Raheem, he wants to be here so hopefully we get the solution on that very soon."

Sterling is a versatile player that has been utilised as a Winger, Striker and attacking midfielder and has spent all of his senior career at Anfield after joining the youth team in 2010. The player has scored 7 goals for Liverpool so far this term and made a total of 30 appearances.
