Chelsea not on the verge of buying Andrea Pirlo says Silvio Berlusconi

The Italian international has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ever since former Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti took over the reins at the London club. Reports suggest Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, who is also said to be preparing a bid to buy the Serie A club, is in London to discuss the deal. But Berlusconi insists neither story has any basis to it. "They are all stories, there's no truth at all," he said. "I don't know anything, I haven't talked to Galliani: I also learnt this from journalists and I was surprised." Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Paulo Ferreira has been told he does have a future with the club having held talks with Ancelotti. The Portugal international, who is working himself back to fitness from a knee injury sustained in March, failed to secure regular starts last season and had feared his days with Chelsea were numbered. But now safe and secure he will play a part in Ancelotti's plans, Ferreira said: "It was important to me that the manager rated me," he said. "Ancelotti has told me that he has confidence in me and I will be part of his plans. "I want to forget last season because I am focusing on being fit for the start of this season and I believe I will be at my best by September. "No-one can doubt my commitment, I will always give 100 per cent but if you're not 100 per cent then you can't help the team and that was my problem last season."
