Chelsea are set to make a £42million bid for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. Billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has given new Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti the green light to bring in a big-name signing to strengthen the Italian's chances of winning the Barclays Premier League in his first season at Stamford Bridge. Ancelotti believes Aguero is the man to add the firepower to Chelsea's title challenge and is determined to sign a new player before the transfer window slams shut on August 31, reports The Sun. However, the Blues face a battle to land the Argentina striker, who will be in action for the La Liga club in a Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos on Wednesday, as they will have to match the £50m release clause his contract. That figure would shatter Manchester City's £32.5m signing of Robinho as the British record. Ancelotti said: 'The market finishes on August 31 and if there is some possibility to improve the squad we can do it.'
