Chelsea Leading the Race for Falcao

Chelsea are now favorites to sign Radamel Falcao after Real Madrid decided to drop out of the €55 million race for the AS Monaco star.

Reports are suggesting that Falcao is unhappy at Monaco after only having moved there during the summer from Atletico Madrid. The Blues are ready to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge.

Falcao is ready to make a move away from the principality after only a few months and favored to join Real Madrid’s superstar lineup. However, with the Spanish Giants out of the race, the Colombian striker is now open to a move to Chelsea.

Reports claim that los Blancos have pulled out of the race because they don’t believe they need to spend big money to strengthen Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. A bidding war with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is something they also aren’t prepared to go through, as the London club is pretty determined to sign the striker.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has openly criticized his players, once again, after their Capital One Cup defeat to Sunderland on Tuesday. The Premier League club is looking determined to strengthening their forward lineup. Demba Ba is the forward that would most likely be affected by a Falcao transfer, as he has been moving down the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Monaco is insisting the striker is happy at the club but sources close to the player have suggested otherwise.

With Mourinho having the funds, need, and determination to add Falcao to his squad, could the deal happen this January?
