Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech rules Blues out of title race

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has all but ruled his side out of the Premier League title race despite his heroics in the west London derby on Monday night. [LNB]The giant Czech stopper saved a 93rd-minute penalty to rescue a point for Carlo Ancelotti's beleaguered side at Fulham, but in light of weekend wins for Manchester United and Arsenal a share of spoils at Craven Cottage is not enough. [LNB]Chelsea are now 12 points adrift of United, who themselves are four clear of the Gunners. And despite still needing to play Sir Alex Ferguson's side twice, Cech believes any good run of form will be too little too late. [LNB] Cech me out: Chelsea earned a point thanks to their goalkeeper at Fulham, but it wasn't enough[LNB]'For the title this point is too little,' Cech admitted. 'Technically it is not over but obviously we are quite far now because they won their games and we dropped points but there is still a way to go and we will fight to the end.[LNB]'We were chasing the game, we tried to get the winning goal and I think in the last few minutes the game was absolutely open, it was up and down stuff and anybody could have got a winner, but in the end we have to go with a point.'[LNB]Chelsea were once again well below par at the home of the nearest rivals, especially on the front foot where Fernando Torres once again flattered to deceive. [LNB] Top of the flops: Fernando Torres once again struggled to make any serious impact on the match[LNB]The ?50million-man was bombarded with chants of 'What A Waste Of Money' from the home fans at half-time, having wasted three guilt-edged opportunities to break his Blues duck. [LNB]Cech, though, backed his new team-mate, who was replaced to a chorus of ironic cheers by Didier Drogba in the second half, to come good. [LNB]Impressed: David Luiz had a far more important impact at Craven Cottage[LNB]'I think he made very good movements throughout the 60 or 70 minutes he was on the pitch and he found quite quickly the understanding with everybody,' he added in an interview with the club's official website. 'But today it wasn't to be to score a goal but it looks very promising.'[LNB]David Luiz, who gave away the stoppage-time penalty which Cech subsequently saved from Clint Dempsey, made his full debut for Chelsea.[LNB]The ?25m capture from Benfica on deadline day impressed up until his moment of carelessness at the death. [LNB]'He had an impressive start when he came in against Liverpool, I think he's been doing really well and against Fulham he's been brilliant so it just shows why Chelsea bought him,' Cech said. [LNB]And on the penalty he added: 'I think it was a penalty, from where I was when they collided the ball was quite a way away and he blocked the leg of Dempsey, I thought the referee didn't have a good view of it but I think it was the right decision.[LNB]'Dempsey shot many times the other way so it was the right guess because the way he went to the ball I sense he could choose the easy option which is to go harder and across, so that's why I chose to go there.'
