Rumours surrounding certain players refuse to go away but sometimes the fuel comes for a further round of speculation from more unlikely sources. Juventus’s director general Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that Pogba may decide to leave in pursuit of greater riches elsewhere. Juventus cannot compete with Europe’s biggest clubs over salaries and for those reasons he feels that Paul Pogba can be offered more elsewhere.

"It's obvious that we would like to keep him until he stops playing.

"However, we can't afford to do anything crazy in terms of salaries and some clubs can guarantee twice as much as us."

"I think everybody has an interest in Pogba. But there are things you can do and things you cannot do. I love the Eiffel Tower but I can't have the Eiffel Tower in my garden. I can’t even have the Eiffel Tower of Las Vegas.”

This will be encouraging news for Chelsea feels the Telegraph and believe that Roman Abramovich could be persuaded to make a bid. Jose Mourinho in his rather unique style feels that a bid for Pogba could be beyond them: “Pogba is one of the top players in the world. Pogba goes to any team and improves that team automatically.

"I think everybody has an interest in Pogba. But there are things you can do and things you cannot do. I love the Eiffel Tower but I can’t have the Eiffel Tower in my garden. I can’t even have the Eiffel Tower of Las Vegas.”

The 22-year-old French midfielder joined Juventus from Manchester United in 2012, making 89 Serie A appearances and scoring 20 goals to date.
