Chelsea flop Andriy Shevchenko can't even get a start up front for Kiev

If Andriy Shevchenko thought a return home to Dynamo Kiev would be an easy ride, now he's realising just how far his star has fallen. Chelsea paid £30million for the one-time World Player of the Year only to use him primarily as a bench warmer. Then his loan return to AC Milan last season saw him similarly ignored at a stadium where he was once considered a hero. Now the Ukraine striker is having to get used to life shunted out on the wing. The 32-year-old scored on his debut when brought on as a substitute against Metalurg Donetsk before the international break. He scored a 90th-minute penalty to seal a 3-1 win and was rewarded with his first start in the Cup on Saturday - as a wide man. 'The position is new for me, and I still have to get used to it,' said Shevchenko. 'The workload is much greater, and there are other duties. 'However, adapting didn't take so much time (on Saturday): after the break I felt full confidence in my abilities. 'I understand that this experiment was not a one-off, and in tighter matches I will be able to show again my new skills.' Dynamo kick off their Champions League campaign against Russian champions Rubin Kazan. Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Sergey Rebrov, who played for Rubin last season, is now reunited with Shevchenko at Dynamo, but only in a coaching capacity.
