Chelsea are hoping Salomon Kalou will pledge his future to the club before his current deal expires at the end of the season. The 24-year-old striker is behind Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and his agent Jan de Visser admitted the Ivory Coast international mayleave on a free transfer next year if he doesn't get enough first-teamfootball this term. But Kalou, with 30 goals since arriving from Feyenoord in 2006, is believed to be enjoying working with Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti and has been assured by the Italian that he is part of his plans. Meanwhile, Alex's hernia injury is still giving Chelsea cause for concern. The defender had an operation after playing the FA Cup final in May, but has missed the first three Premier League games of the campaign.
